While crisis has become the standard and normality the exception, the managerial and organizational impacts of such a context cannot be denied.
The objective is therefore to explore the paths toward organizational resilience, which implies a highspeed Transformation strategy based on the key forces that characterized any organization : structures, processes, human factors, and technology.

Bastian Dufilhol, PhD

Executive Director of the ESCP Business School Dubai campus since 2024, Bastian DUFILHOL is a permanent affiliate professor at ESCP and Academic Director of Executive programmes.
Prior to joining ESCP, he pursued a distinguished career in the French Armed Forces, serving in several operational units, including the French Foreign Legion. He was also involved in the training and education of officers cadets at the Saint-Cyr Military Academy. Over the course of his military career, he participated in numerous operations and held responsabilities within the central administration, where he coordinated strategic transformation projects, including initiatives aimed at simplifying the organization and processes of the French Army. He retired from active service as a General Officer.
Since 2024, he has been responsible for the strategy lecture at the Centre des Hautes Études Militaires (CHEM – Paris). He also serves as an advisor to ANOZR WAY, a French cybersecurity start-up.
Initially trained at the Saint-Cyr Military Academy, he graduated from the War College. He also graduated as an Engineer, and got a degree from ESSEC Business School and a PhD in Political Science as well. A graduate of the Institute for Advanced Studies of the Ministry of the Interior (IHEMI), he authored a doctoral thesis on State Resilience, combining perspectives from public policies, organizational theory, and crises sociology.

Biography of Dr. Alexis Champion

Holding a PhD in artificial intelligence, Alexis Champion has also made intuition his field of expertise for nearly 20 years. Founder of the company iRiS Intuition, he has led more than 100 consulting projects for businesses and public services, in fields as varied as industry, human resources, banking, and archaeology. Together with his teams, he also works with artists, military personnel, and high-level athletes.

iRiS Intuition is also a professional training organization and conducts scientific research alongside institutional and academic partners, including Paris 8 University, the Polytechnic University of Hauts-de-France, CNAM, CEA Tech, and the Research Center of the French Football Federation. iRiS focuses on decision-making in situations of high uncertainty or urgency, as well as creativity and innovation.

Alexis is currently co-supervising two PhD projects at the intersection of intuition and artificial intelligence, in the fields of justice and intelligence. His main areas of reflection and commitment are research into perception and consciousness, human-machine differences and complementarities, and creativity.

30+ years of international experience in regulated financial services. Xavier Durand is a graduate of the École Polytechnique and the École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées. He started his career in 1987 with consultancy firm The Mac Group (Gemini Consulting) before joining Banque Sovac Immobilier in 1994 as deputy CEO. In 1996, Xavier Durand joined GE Capital, where he led an international career, first in Chicago as Director of Strategy and Growth in the finance division of the Global Auto business, then in France, first as CEO of GE Money Bank France, then CEO for Europe of GE Money and GE Capital’s banking activities. In 2011, he was named CEO of GE Capital Asia Pacific, based in Japan. He was appointed GE Capital’s Director of Strategy and Growth, based in London, at the end of 2013. He has been Chief Executive Officer of COFACE SA since February 9, 2016.

Introduction

The Saudi French Business Council (CAFS) is organising a meeting on 25 November 2025, at the Federation of Saudi Chambers in Riyadh, for the two delegations of French companies organised by Business France, as part of their Saudi French Business Forum and Booster Grow Program.

Mrs. Maura Regan, President of Licensing International
Maura Regan serves as President of Licensing International, the premier global trade association for the $369+ billion brand licensing industry. She brings more than 20 years of experience in global licensing and media, having joined Licensing International as Executive Vice President before her promotion. Prior to this role, Regan spent 17 years at Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit organization behind Sesame Street, where she served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of International Media Business, overseeing the organization’s global distribution and licensing operations. Her earlier career included executive positions at MTV Networks, Scholastic Entertainment, and The Jim Henson Company, and she holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Mr. Laurent Taieb, President of Licensing International France
Laurent Taieb serves as Co-President of Licensing International France, bringing over 30 years of extensive experience in the licensing industries. He began his career at Ideal Loisirs, a French toy company, where he worked on major brands including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Micro Machines, and Super Soakers before they joined Hasbro. He then moved to CPLG as a licensing agency executive, working on prestigious entertainment properties including Star Wars, Marvel, DreamWorks, and Sony. Ali Baydoun is a corporate lawyer with a strong experience in the M&A sector, mainly advising a wide range of French and international clients (industrialists, investment funds) in their external growth or investment transactions in France (acquisitions, participating interests, sale of activities, mergers, agreements), and on their joint ventures and contractual projects abroad, notably in the MENA region.

Introduction of ESSEC Delegation

The Saudi French Business Council (CAFS) is collaborating with CCI France UAE to organise the visit of a delegation of 28 CEOs and top managers of French and international companies from ESSEC Alumni.
This welcoming meeting will give way to presentations of the Saudi economy and business environment by the Embassy of France and CAFS members.
It will be concluded by a networking lunch giving the opportunity to the participants to meet and expand their business networks.

About the GICAN / GICAT

GICAT and GICAN, federations of French defense and security companies (land, airland and sea), have been operating in Saudi Arabia since February 2024, during the World Defense Show.

GICAT, with 480 member companies, and GICAN, with 260 member companies, are the representatives of French companies in the sector, facilitators for French companies to develop partnership opportunities with local public and private players, and organizers of Eurosatory and Euronaval, which take place this year in France.

To this end, the industry federations have created the Middle East Club, which aims to :

Provide a forum for meetings and dialogue for French companies operating in the Middle East or interested in developing their activities in the region;
Involve French and Saudi institutions, companies and public/private operators;
Provide regular updates on the activities and calendar of GICAN and GICAT, as well as those of French partners in the region;

GICAT and GICAN are proposing the organization of a joint Middle East club with CAFS, a leading partner in Riyadh for French and Saudi companies. Business France – French Fab Accelerator – Vision 2030

Business France, will launch the 3rd edition of the French Fab Accelerator – Vision 2030, at Vivatech Paris on 22nd May 2024.

This event is part of the tech momentum between France and Saudi Arabia and will be gathering all the Saudi tech ecosystem : MCIT, MIM, STC, ARAMCO DIGITAL, OBEIKAN, NIDLP, RCU, THE GARAGE & KAUST.

It will aim to support French companies through an immersion program in Saudi Arabia lasting over 5 months and connecting French innovative startups with key Saudi players in industry 4.0 and cognitive technology.

This accelerator will be divided into three main stages, with :
A selection phase for French companies by a Saudi jury made up of key players in Vision 2030 (NIDLP, STC, Obeikan, RCU, MCIT, Ministry of Industry & the Garage), which will take place on 22nd May at Vivatech Paris.

A personalized support phase during which the French companies selected by the Saudi jury will have access to a personalised programme of meetings set up by Business France over a period of 5 months to meet the entire Saudi ecosystem in industry 4.0 & cognitive technology.

An immersion phase, during which the selected companies will be traveling to Riyadh for a period of 12 days (1st to 12th December 2024), where they will have the opportunity to meet Saudi Vision 2030 and Industry 4.0 stakeholders, participate in site visits, and take part in workshop sessions.

The first part of the selection phase, which will be officially launched on 22nd May at Vivatech in Paris, will include a French Saudi panel including key players such as:

Professor Arnaud Blandin, Professor Affiliated Executive Educative at SKEMA Business School

Arnaud Blandin is an affiliate professor at SKEMA Executive Education. He is the co-founder of the BEYOND ecosystem whose mission is to simplify the topics concerning social and environmental impacts by incorporating them at the heart of business models of companies. He supports Private Equity and VCs investors, multinationals as well as banking and institutional players.

He has developed expertise in matters of impact, impact measurement, especially carbon footprints and life cycle assessments, ESG, business model transition, and various regulations (SFDR, CSRD, SASB, ISSB).

His approach based on data and concrete cases allows him to mobilize a network of dozens of entrepreneurs, scientists/researchers, and executives all over the world.

Arnaud started his career in Silicon Valley in a Business Process Management company that experienced significant growth between 2000 and 2010 before joining an investment firm Singapore, leading investments in Southeast Asia and China.

For over 20 years, the EY attractiveness barometer has been a reference point for understanding France’s position in the face of its competitors in foreign investment, its strengths, and areas for improvement.

This EY barometer was notably mentioned by President Macron on the sidelines of the recent Versailles summit, which brought together a number of foreign CEOs around the President of the Republic.

For the 4th consecutive year, France is at the top of the European ranking in terms of the number of foreign investment projects, with 1,259 projects announced in 2022 (a 3% increase).

While the EY 2023 barometer carries positive notes, France’s attractiveness is still challenged by a troubled economic and social climate, which highlights serious shortcomings compared to its competitors.

If France wants to maintain and strengthen its position as a destination for international investments, it must take into account the economic context as well as global changes, capitalize on its strengths, address its weaknesses, and adapt to the projects of companies that are themselves undergoing significant transformations.

About Eric Fourel:

Eric Fourel is the CEO of EY France since July 1, 2019.

Eric is a French lawyer. A graduate of the Institute of Political Studies in Paris (Public Service section) and the University of Paris II-Assas, he began his career in 1987 as a tax specialist.

EY Partner since 1996, Eric assumed the presidency of EY Société d’Avocats in 2004. In 2017, he was appointed Market Leader for the WEM region and, in that capacity, contributes to the multidisciplinary deployment of offerings and solutions for all EY business lines.

Business France – French Saudi Maritime Days

With 13 ports, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is characterized by its strategic geographical location, as a gateway, a connection zone between three continents (Asia, Europe and Africa) and a major hub for commercial transport. by sea. The VISION 2030 plan exploited these strengths and built on the diversification of the non-oil economy by launching pioneering projects to achieve strategic objectives aimed at making the Kingdom the next global logistics hub.

To achieve this objective, the Kingdom launched the National Industrial Development Logistic Program where 160 projects were launched in order to:

increase the volume of goods transported by the Kingdom’s ports to nearly 40 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) to attract 100 million tourists by 2030, notably through the development of tourist flows by sea (cruises).
Optimize port operations and modernize infrastructure .
Build new shipyards (construction and repair of ships).

The flagship project is the construction of NEOM -Oxagon, the world’s largest floating structure and the world’s first fully automated port and integrated logistics platform.

About the Riyadh International Book Fair

The Riyadh International Book Fair is one of the largest book festivals in the region. The 2022 edition saw more than 900,000 visitors. It is hosted by the Ministry of Culture and organized by the Literature, Publishing & Translation Commission, both working towards establishing Saudi Arabia as the core of publishing, literary, and arts and culture and Architecture. It is recognized as the first Educational & social event in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in line with THE VISION 2030.

This cultural, educational event is unprecedented in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, regarding its participants, from publishing houses to writers and authors with multiple publications in French.

Content of Masterclass

This masterclass is about what a management model is, i.e. what an organization’s management processes are and how these fit together with its leadership principles. Many organizations use a command-and-control management model, even though they operate in much more dynamic and uncertain environments and would like to attract employees that seek much more responsibility and are more innovative than what their Command-and-Control management model suggests. With the Viable Map method (co-developed by Sebastian Becker), organizations have a tool at hand that allows them to discuss their management model, then diagnose whether it is aligned or not, and then design one that better fits the organization. For example, if an organization seeks to be more agile, steer with purpose or attract creative high potential.

Agenda

1. What is a management model?

2. How can managers and executives diagnose their management model and see whether it needs to be improved?

3. What is a command-and-control management model, and what is an empowered management model?

4. Which organizations have an aligned and coherent management model and how is this a competitive advantage for them?

About Prof. Sebastian D. Becker

Sebastian D. Becker is the holder of the Nexans chair for “Orchestrating sustainable business transformation”. He learned his Ph.D. from WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management (Vallendar, Germany) in 2011 and his M.Sc. (Diplom-Kaufmann) in business administration from EBS Business School (Oestrich-Winkel, Germany). He is an alumnus of the International Teachers Program (ITP).

Before joining the HEC Paris faculty, Sebastian was a post-doc at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management. He was a visiting scholar at University of Innsbruck (Innsbruck, Austria), NHH (Bergen, Norway), Bocconi University (Milan, Italy), and HEC Paris (Paris, France).

Sebastian’s research examines the diffusion, change, and implementation of accounting and control techniques in private and public sector organizations. He has a particular interest in budgeting and forecasting, is an expert on Beyond Budgeting and co-authored the “Viable Map workbook” which includes a method to diagnose and design management models. He also studies management techniques in startups, incubators and entrepreneurial ecosystems. His research has been published or is forthcoming in Contemporary Accounting Research, European Accounting Review, Critical Perspectives on Accounting, Financial Accountability and Management, and Journal of Business Economics

CAFS Delegation – French Healthcare Innovation and Business Forum

French Healthcare will organize the FRENCH HEALTHCARE INNOVATION AND BUSINESS FORUM, on 18 and 19 September 2023, at Maison de la Chimie in Paris, France.

This event is organized by French Healthcare Association with the support of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and Business France.

The CAFS is planning on setting up a delegation of Saudi companies to participate in this event.

Over 150 invited foreign decision-makers (Ministries of Health, Procurement agencies and leading distributors, etc.) from growing markets in the Middle East, Africa and Central Asia will be connecting with more than 60 French healthcare organizations (equipment and medical devices manufacturers, turnkey hospitals providers, medical services & consulting firms, leading hospitals, pharma, diagnostic, etc.) and 20 highly innovative French startups.

Through a rich program of B2B & B2G meeting sessions, high-level conferences and networking breaks, participants will have the opportunity to develop business flows and generate collaboration opportunities. Last year, we had the opportunity to welcome an important Saudi delegation with high level officials of the MOH, National Center for Privatization & PPP and MISA.

About Prof. Aurélien Colson

Aurélien COLSON PhD MBA is professor of political science at ESSEC Business School (Paris) and Director of the Institute for Research and Education on Negotiation (IRENE Paris, Singapore & Brussels). He published many articles in scientific journals, and his books have been translated in 15 languages, including the best-seller, The First Move – A Negotiator’s Companion (Wiley). He served as Advisor to the French Prime Minister (1998-2002) and since then has advised many corporations or public organizations executives. He has also run negotiation-related missions for international organizations such as the European Union or UN agencies, in about 40 countries.

The Saudi French Business Council (CAFS) and the Embassy of France to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are partnering up to organise a networking event on 25 May, at the Federation of Saudi Chambers in Riyadh.

Mr. Jean-Pierre RAFFARIN, former Prime Minister – France, will be the keynote speaker.

Mr. Raffarin is currently the President of the Foundation Leaders for Peace. Since January 2018, he has been the Special Envoy for China-France Relations. Mr. Raffarin is a senior lecturer at several prestigious institutes in France.

This event will aim to bring together the French business community in Saudi Arabia and the members of the CAFS, to give them the opportunity to connect, promote their activities, exchange information and meet potential new partners.

There are currently many French companies already operating in the country, whose representatives will be invited by the French Embassy to participate in the event.

On the other hand, the CAFS now brings together more than 150 members who will get free access to the event.

This event is only open to French companies invited by the French embassy and to members of the CAFS.

Registration is mandatory.
