Introduction

This webinar, organized by the Saudi French Business Council (CAFS), in partnership with the French law firm Jeantet, will address the main corporate and tax matters which arise in the context of an investment in France. It will cover matters as the type of investments in France (green field, acquisitions, joint-ventures), corporate forms, main French tax features, French tax incentive schemes, foreign investment screening. The purpose of this conference is to give a precise overview on the main corporate and tax aspects which must be considered when investing in France.

Biographies of speakers

Mr. Ali BAYDOUN

Ali Baydoun is a corporate lawyer with a strong experience in the M&A sector, mainly advising a wide range of French and international clients (industrialists, investment funds) in their external growth or investment transactions in France (acquisitions, participating interests, sale of activities, mergers, agreements), and on their joint ventures and contractual projects abroad, notably in the MENA region.
He is also involved in advising groups in connection with their corporate and governance restructurings and the implementation of such policies in France.
He has also developed over the years a strong expertise in business contract law.
Ali is a lecturer in M&A at “Institut d’Etudes Politiques Paris” (Sciences Po).

Mr. Gabriel DI CHIARA

Gabriel di Chiara advises French and foreign investment funds and companies on mergers and acquisitions, real estate and renewable energy investments, tax audits and issues related to VAT, transfer taxes and corporate taxes. Before joining Jeantet in 2013, Gabriel worked as a real estate tax expert within the French public fund group Caisse des Dépôts.
Gabriel teached real estate tax law and corporate law at the “Université La Sorbonne Nouvelle”, “Université Paris-Est Créteil” and at the “Faculté Libre de Droit – La Faco”.
Gabriel was member of the Paris Bar Council (2022-2024) and is member of the tax committee of the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (ECB), of the
International Fiscal Association (IFA), of the International Bar Association (IBA) and of the Institut des Avocats Conseils Fiscaux (IACF).
He is listed among the “Recommended Lawyers” by Legal 500.
