02 September 2014 – On September 2, 2014, the 34th Meeting of the CAFS took place during the visit of the Crown Prince and the Defense Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, H.R.H Salman bin Abdelaziz AL SAOUD. The Saudi Minister of Commerce and Industry, Dr. Tawfiq Bin Fozan Al Rabiah, the Governor of SAGIA (Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority), as well as the former French State Secretary of Foreign Trade, Mr. Thomas THEVENOUD all participated in the meeting. Co-chaired by Mr. Jean-Louis CHAUSSADE and Dr. Mohamed BEN LADEN, copresidents of the Saudi-French Business Council (CAFS) and respectively CEO of SUEZ Environment and Chairman of MBL Law Firm, this meeting allowed to review the economic and trade relations between France and Saudi Arabia. There were several priority projects led by French companies to develop Saudi Arabia which were presented to the Crown Prince (particularly in the fields of energy, sustainable cities, water and sanitation, transport, etc). Vertical Market panels were organized focusing on the following themes:
- Hydrocarbons and petrochemicals
- Sustainable cities and transpor
- Santé
A large Saudi Delegation with over 30 companies as well as nearly 130 French companies were able to ask their questions and voice their concerns to representatives of both countries as well as have discussions with their partners.
